Start of the crusade

A remind about the contributors and volunteers of this project came to my mind after an interview at Alicante council. Some days ago they where persons I hadn´t met or knew about, but they came to my call and shared this quest with no doubt about the success.

The work this team developes is very commendable: they unselfish dedicate their time, energy and skills to support this emerging initiative. And then I remember we are defending common interests, caring for a damaged and forgotten nature, interceding for a good cause, joining a rightful ideal. This is the spirit that remarks the personal values, when everybody adds the best of knowledges and efforts. (Extracted from a mail to a volunteer).

The project starts to receive a more definitive help. Six support letters have arriven yet and some more are coming, lots of contacts have been done. The contributors team has grown with two more incorporations. A prestigious international NGO, ILCP (International League of Conservation Photographers) joins the project and sure it will make the difference. Lots of new things happen everyday and it is difficult to assimilate them all. I have spoken or written to personalities of the world of conservationism, attended several interviews with directors of several entities, received opinions and dicussed about the dossier that represents the project and how far will it reach…

But all this work and effort will not reach anything if don´t have the popular support. If people that still mind about nature don´t wake and show some interest to projects like this, we will reach very few success.

At the Levante area, facing the mediterranean, with problems of water supply, a big group of buildings raise over a dune belt, really close to the sea. Every of each has green grass to be irrigated daily in summer, and a pool.

PEOPLE… THEY MOVE THE WORLD

This quest takes place from a simple but original idea: launch a S.O.S. sign, a a help request to friends, followers, simpathizers… a mail list of several thousands. The result is amazing, hundreds of feedbacks and proposals

  • I am working here
  • I know a contact there
  • A frien of mine is well connected
  • I can help with this.

Have you ever thought what happens when two or three hundred people do put efforts in same direction?. And what happens if you go adding to the number several more daily?. People move the world.

The result is easy to guess: a big potential tool. And the big responsability of us all is using it for a community welfare, in this case safeguard the coastline of a country. In this group you can find naturalists, functionaries, teachers, bloggers, lawyers, scientists, photographers, painters, writers, designers… Could we find any better team?

I am now sure if we can´t reach public opinion and achieve to press notoriusly on those politic sectors more insensible to preserve our nature, we will not reach a remarkable success. Easy or impossible? Difficult to say at this stage, but I remember a quote by Goethe a friend of mine sent on the early stage of this proyect…

“Until one is commited, there is hesitancy, the chance to draw back, always inefectiveness. Concerning all acts of initiative, there is one elementary truth the ignorancy of which kills countless ideas and splendid plans: that the moment one definitely commits oneself, then providence moves too. A whole stream of events issues from the decision, raising in one´s favor all manner of unforeseen incidents, meetings and material assistance, wich no man could have dreamt would have come this way”.

Not always the soil is occupied to build homes. Sometimes the concrete is the base for bars, shops, game courts, walks...
