The Spanish coast is a cemetery of concrete

3261_74536968805_69794913805_1776572_2457273_nEl Pais newspaper published on 27/07/2009 an article by Lluís Pellicer about what has happened in the Spanish coastline and even what is actually happening. What´s gonna happen with more than half million new plots for sale? How has been permitted to destroy the traditional landscape of coastal villages and cities, and even protected natural areas?

Buildings have been raised whithout care of the real demand, not thinking about the citizens´ and the territory needs in operations that sometimes have taken to disprotect natural reserves by law in a unprecedent urbanistic and speculative race.

Around 50% of the new homes are concentrated in coastal mediterranean provinces, which is now a concrete belt with few natural landscapes, protected or not, but sorrounded by massification.
